All sorts of tangerine for spring (and upcoming summer!)

If you haven't noticed, I'm surprisingly very enthusiastic about spring beauty trends this year.  Oh, and don't ask me why!  Normally I frown upon shades of coral, turquoise, and anything bright (in the past I haven't found said colors to be particularly flattering on my skin tone); however, this season I'm really loving them.  I'll be honest, the only way I've managed to rock tangerine is on my nails, but I'm slowly building up the confidence to wear it on my lips, too.  In this post I hope to inspire you to wear it everywhere- nails, lips, and eyes!  (That being said, I hope it'll put a little inspiration in myself as well).

First up we have one of the new Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows in Fierce & Tangy ($5.99, drugstores):

I own only one other Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow (in the shade Pomegranate Punk, reviewed here), and Fierce & Tangy is everything I <3 about Pomegranate Punk minus the shimmer.  It's pretty bright- you can see for yourself in my swatches below- but it's a fun way to incorporate the tangerine trend into eye looks.  I'm still deciding on the best way to wear this, but I've tried it by itself all over my lid and as a base for gold-based shadows.  If you have any other suggestions, do let me know!

Next up, Wet n Wild MegaLast lipstick in Cora-line ($1.99, drugstores):

This had a "new" sticker on the outer packaging (that also says the name of the shade), so I was thinking it was one of the new shades!  After searching Google, however, it looks like Cora-line isn't actually new- I'm seeing swatches and reviews from early last year.  If anyone can confirm this, I'd love to know for sure.
Moving on, Cora-line is BRIGHT and for those of you who are pretty comfortable wearing loud shades of lipstick.  It goes on to be the same color as the bullet!  The formula is matte so it's going to be more drying, and I find that a lip balm underneath eliminates most of my dryness.  These lipsticks are fantastic for their price, though- incredibly rich and pigmented, and they last for a good four hours without needing a touch up.

Lastly, the polish on my fingers as we speak (type?)- Wet n Wild Club Havana ($1.99, drugstores):

I'm in love with this shade of orange!  It's pretty bright, too, and doesn't have much pink in it (which is usually what I look for in tangerine).  Club Havana is a lot of fun and if I wasn't excited for summer before, I am now.  I've had this on my nails since Sunday and have a few chips- it's not THAT "megalast-ing", but it's decent nonetheless.

Swatches:
Left: Wet n Wild Cora-line; Right: Maybelline Fierce & Tangy (swatched heavily)

My apologies for being gone the earlier part of this week.  My mom and I went to Minneapolis to do some shopping (...I spent a total of 10 hours at Mall of America, but in my defense part of that time was eating at the Rainforest Cafe and hanging out with my baby cousin!).  We had so much fun and I got a bunch of cute things for spring, I can't wait to share them with you all!
My mom also spoiled me and bought me the Too Faced Naked Eye Palette.... the one I've been wanting for well over a year.  I was on cloud nine, folks!  OH!  But before that happened, she got her eye makeup done at MAC!  OK, "eye makeup" consisting of Painterly Paint Pot, Era eyeshadow, and Smut eyeshadow used as liner, but for my mom that was CRAZINESS OVERLOAD.  She was finally talked into purchasing an eye primer and you know I'll be on her about using it. :)

Anyway, thanks so much for reading, everyone.  I hope you're having a lovely Thursday!
